In the midst of the global economic slowdown, there are a number of private schools in Kuwait who still seek to impose a tuition fee hike for the upcoming academic year. However, some parents may be relieved because some schools are not considering any increases at all. A ministerial decree on March 28, 2008, signed by Education Minister Nouriya Al-Sabeeh, allows private schools in Kuwait to increase tuition fees by up to five percent annually.
We do have the memorandum received from the school administration imposing a five percent increase in the next school year. It was approved by the Ministry of Education. The memo is with us now and is being imposed as registration begins," said a anonymous principal.
