The Story Behind the Header Image Photo

Last November 2010 I had the privilege to be invited as one of the Volunteer (Photographer) to the first ever Filipino Walkathon "Walk with L.I.F.E.: Steps Toward the Future 2010" which was organized by Legacy of Integrated Filipino Employees in Kuwait (L.I.F.E.)

It is a walkathon for a cause in which the benefits will be used for helping our young Filipino students in the Philippines. I was very excited and left our house very early in the morning for me not to be late.

It was a long walk indeed but very fulfilling despite my lower back issues and my cam took a lot of photos which I am going to share some snaps - now. :-)

I reached home early and had my second breakfast then went to church with my family and in the afternoon I received call from one of the organizing committee (who is also actually my colleague) and told me to forward him which I think my best shots as they will select among the photos that will be published in Kuwait's leading newspaper.  Well I chose from my files and sent by email some five or six photos. I admit that I'm not a Pro but a photo hobbyist I can say - so I sent and forget hahah!

The following day, we checked the newspapers and I started to receive calls from my colleagues telling me that my photos were chosen. As the old saying goes, "To see is to believe.." then I will really believe.  Unexpectedly, to my surprise, two of my photos were chosen: one on the front page and the other on the center. There was a big smile on my face although my name was not mention on the other photo (front page). Photo nos. 2 & 6 were selected and published.

Those were my first published photos "for Free" and I'm very glad that I was a part of such a memorable Filipino event in Kuwait. So then I decided to change my header image as I received many positive feed backs on that photo and that will also remind me how the event helped the Filipino students in Philippines.
